Wally-what

So Jenn talked about my iiiiicky ankle. The government started an initiative to slim down the civil service workforce, as the mean-weight of an engineer at Hill AFB is probably somewhere above 250. That means excused absence time that we can take off from work and go exercise while being paid. Of course as most well-intentioned gov't programs go, the people who need it don't use it. That's okay I get 3 hours a week to go work-out, SWEET! I enjoy racquetball 2-3 times a week, but have recently started throwing in Wallyball to mix things up.

I sprained it pretty bad playing Wallyball (volleyball in a racquetball court with a different ball). I took on a guy who was 6'4" at the net. I really had no business jumping at all since he was still clearly at least a half arms length above my 'stretchy' arms (yes I have borderline freakishly long arms). So this guy out jumped me and right as I was landing his foot went right underneath mine. We were near the wall and my heel started to hit the wall funny and turned as it landed on his foot. It's quite the experience to feel the bottom of your foot hit something and your ankle touch the floor at the same time. Next thing I knew I was in a slump upside down against the wall. As often happens when I get hurt my co-workers started laughing. In fact they finished the side-out while I was still laid out on the floor. When I started doing the funky chicken in a circle on the floor, while trying to take a breath they realized I must have hurt something. All we could find for ice was some left over snow in some shade and a spare garbage bag. I tell ya, I have never felt pain like that before. Doc said it wasn't broken and gave me the ice, wrap it and Ibuprofen speech. So ten days later it still looks like this (no that's not localized Jaundice, it's a yellow bruise that goes from my toes to above my ankle) and hurts, but I can walk on it now so I'll quit belly-achin'.

It kills me to see my government released-exercise time go to waste, so I'll take up weight training for a bit until I can make it back in the court.
