"I get NO respect" - Rodney Dangerfield

So some of you may have seen my triumphant expression on Facebook this last weekend when I wrote "It's done, it's done...at last it's finally done." I was in fact referring to the bathroom remodel that has taken me quite a few months. No I'm not to blame for most of the delays...there was design decisions that I waited on, Emilee's last few months, sickness in our family, okay perhaps a little bit of laziness and a few "I really don't want to work on it agains" in there. But yes, it is finally done. I spent a long time going from here to my equivalent of here. As you can see there were times that I worked on the bathroom where I got no respect.

Yes that is a "Kick Me, -Dad" sign on my back.

Trent can be so spontaneously funny at times. He pleasantly came up behind me and said "Hey Dad". Then I felt his hand press something on my back, followed by a swift kick to my behind and trailing laughter as he ran away down the stairs. Next came Jenn to see what the big commotion was and soon I felt another kick to the rear. By then the sign fell off and I was spared more humiliation from Travis and Rachel. But it was worth all the laughs. I even got a 'snort' from Jenn that only occurs when things are particularly funny, like Trent signing my name to the Kick Me sign. But all the hard work did pay as the bathroom looks pretty darn good if I say so myself. So without further ado, here are the pics.

Not too bad, eh? Now to take a short break before I have to start on the mud/laundry room. Oh and I also ruined the kitchen floor using the ride-on toys that the kids got for easter. More about that later.

Also, stay tuned for a new feature on the blog. Highlights from My Hot Handyman, or This Newer Old House. Not quite sure what to name it. But I'll highlight updates I've done around the house and the somewhat crazy stories that go along with them. Until then, this is handyman saying, Uhh, Be careful out there and don't forget your PPE (Personal Protective Equipment, yet another LGA (Long Government Acronym)).

You are so stinkin' funny. I so wish you guys lived closer. Aaron did his first home improvement project this past week. He put up can lighting in our family room so it is bright instead of just our one spotlight pointing to the fireplace. He actually did a dang good job. Now that he has shown he knows what he is doing, I have a nice long list of "wants" that he can start on (fireplace tiling, wood flooring, countertop/backsplash, cabinets, etc.)

Oh Trent...I LOVE YOU!!!! That is hilarious. I can't wait to tell Brev what he did. He is going to bust up laughing.

The bathroom looks great. Way to go Kylie.

Wow, that's a beautiful bathroom. If you ever get bored, I have a couple rooms that wouldn't mind sprucing up. Nicely done!

Trent, you. are. awesome. I love a kid with a good sense of humor!

I replaced the lamp fixture in our half bath - I think it took me about a year from buying the stuff to doing it.

See I get things done too. Only, much much s l o w e r .

Really like the pedestal sink.

I have a hard time getting my Ellis to laugh too, always feel quite an accomplishment, happens slightly more than my handyman work.
